about us

Gumbo Ya Ya is a project I undertook several years ago when I was inspired to create an ezine that catered to the online conjure community, while at the same time having a creative and interesting means of promoting my many business ventures and the activities of my partners and colleagues. The idea that it could be theme-less and just contain whatever happened to be going on at the moment of its creation lends itself well to the concept of the southern "gumbo ya ya."

Since the beginning, Gumbo Ya Ya has contained the voices and experiences of more than my own, making it a community endeavor. As such we welcome contributions from anyone, large and small. If you have a conjure to contribute, feel free to fill out the form below. Please note that submitting an article or work through the form implies your consent for publication, but does not guarantee it.

Currently, the following individuals regularly contribute their time and work to Gumbo Ya Ya, sharing a vision of a free resource of information for like-minded individuals:

Gumbo Ya Ya has been free as a digital download since its inception. It takes many hours to create each issue, and I do all of the editing, graphic design and formatting myself without pay. My initial plan was to offer an issue each month, but that is just not possible given the amount of time it takes to create from start to finish. If you would like to help keep Gumbo Ya Ya free and see it published more frequently, please consider donating to the cause. Any amount is helpful.
